This is a rare and very early 2" 3/4 all brass Hardy Perfect fly reel, dating from the 1890's.
Amazing to think that Hardy, 131 years after the launch of the original Perfect, is still producing this model, and like Rolex to the watch world, is both desired and collected the world over.
This example has a full nickel silver rim held in place by 3 x nickel silver pins on 3 x lugs to faceplate.
With that famous "612" patent to faceplate, this example has dished, perforated drum, rim mounted tension adjuster, open ball race and smooth, constant check mechanism.
These early treasures are becoming extremely valuable with early examples selling for in excess of £50,000.
