Hardy Brother are responsible for the invention and production of one of the most iconic fly reels, the famous "Perfect" reel.
Here are two examples of Hardy's Perfect, with one being a 4" Transitional Salmon model dating from 1894, characterised by the "waisted" foot, and the other, a 4" 1/2 Brass Faced model with the Patented 1903 line guard.
This view shows the change in drum design with the brass Perfect having a dished effect.
Both of these examples are for Salmon fishing and we can see the subtle changes in the tension adjusters, reel feet and pillars.
The handles remained the same in both material and shape. Both of these examples are presented in near mint condition and are an exception to the general condition that these models are usually seen in.
