New for the 1911 fishing season was the Silex No 2 spinning reel with improvements over the previous model. With a rim mounted casting trigger and tension adjuster, this model bears the central nut which locked the spool onto the frame of the reel.
This example comes complete with a pair of locking spanners and a spare locking nut for the reel, both of which are incredibly rare to find and comes in its original leather "D" locking case.
This model was only in production for a very limited period and this examples, which is 111 years old, still retains near all of its factory finish.
