Hardy Brothers of Alnwick produced these early centrepin reels, named the Sliex, which remained in production for many decades, with the first examples appearing in the late Victorian period and continuing into the 1970's.
These early, attractive centrepins came in many styles and sizes and are sometimes complemented by their leather "D" block cases.
These free running reels have optional check buttons, brake levers and generally twin handles.
And some views of the rear of the reels which generally bears the maker's name and model details.
